It all began with a dream to
explore the wilds of Denali National Park,
until the realization that the bus would drop us off along the
park's single road and that would be it. Out with the map and
compass, we would be charged with navigating the wilds in an
effort to explore rugged country while avoiding close encounters
of the Alaskan Brown Bear kind.

In our dreary pre-Montana life, Amy and I traveled extensively
for business and had the opportunity to dine at some great
restaurants. We coined a phrase for food that truly created a
new and wonderful taste sensation, the Mouth Treat! A Mouth
Treat experience normally only happens once in a blue moon –
it’s a Wow, I’ve never tasted anything that good before
sensation… On Valentine’s Day we met another couple to dine at
Bigfork’s newest culinary establishment, Joshua Auerhammer‘s
Culinary Design Studio. I’ve never experienced so many Mouth
Treats in a single meal in my life!
I hesitate to call it a restaurant because it’s not. There is
only one table, the Chef’s Table! Private dining at its best –
you, your guests, one wait staff and Josh. Reservations and
early scheduling are imperative – but worth it!
For our Valentine’s Day dinner we allowed Josh free rein to
create anything he wanted. Here’s what he came up with:

You can choose a menu for your dinner if you want but why stifle
Josh’s creativity? Every course created just for us… Exquisite
attention to detail, sauces and seasoning matched perfectly.
Locally sourced fresh quail eggs… Amazingly light and wonderful
Cream of Asparagus Soup… the Salad, delightful… OMG Shrimp -
what’s in that incredible Citrus Broth??? Lamb, aahh perfect…
Lemon and thyme do go together… Dessert - I’m not leaving a
bite, I’ll just blow up and die happy!
Service is friendly and extremely well versed on ingredients. I
have only one regret in writing this review, the more people who
find out about it, the harder it will be for me to get a table!
