Relocation and visitor information for Northwest Montana, the Flathead Valley and Flathead Lake, and Glacier National Park

The Flathead Valley of Northwest Montana offers a little something for everyone. Communities of varying size and character dot the valley corridor, with the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi (Flathead Lake) to the south and the famed Glacier National Park to the northeast. Recreation for every season abounds, and for the enthusiastic shopper, artist communities and mainstream stores offer the ability to find just about anything.

Glimpse a few area communities:

Bigfork
This village on the bay springs to life in the summer months, its inviting shops and flower lined streets drawing locals and visitors alike to explore the town's fine art, varietal dining and live entertainment. Living here is like living in Mother Nature's finest works gallery, with two dramatic mountain ranges, the blue expanse of Flathead Lake, and the Swan River as the permanent exhibit.

Columbia Falls
Known as the Gateway to Glacier National Park, Columbia Falls is primarily a community of hard working families. This small town retains its Montana flavor with its friendly no-nonsense approach. There is a pervasive love for the outdoors here and it is no wonder, as Columbia Falls provides access to the North Fork Road which winds along the North Fork of the Flathead River, a scenic (and sometimes bumpy!) ride straight to Canada. The town also is next to the Middle Fork of the Flathead River, which is the popular choice for rafting on the southern most edge of Glacier National Park.

Whitefish
Its history in timber, the small resort town of Whitefish began as a railroad community, and the historic train depot stands as a working gem at the north end of town to this day. Whitefish boats its own lake, the Whitefish Mountain Resort to the north (home of world class skiing and summer recreation), and ample recreational opportunities throughout.
